RECIPE # 2: OLD FASHIONED FUDGE
This recipe was taken from a 1929 edition of Good Housekeeping Cook Book.

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
2 square chocolate (2 oz.)
2 Tablespoon corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS

In a large saucepot, combine sugar, milk, chocolate, and corn syrup. Heat to a boiling and boil to the soft ball stage. (The soft ball stage is when you drop a tiny bit of the mixture into a cup of cold water and the mixture forms a soft ball of chocolate.) Remove from heat. Drop in the butter and vanilla. Cool for at least 10 minutes. Whip the mixture till it starts to hold shape and pour it into a buttered pan. Cool completely (if you can wait!), cut into squares and enjoy!!! Don't forget to lick the pan and spoon - this stuff is out of this world!! You will love it and so will anyone who loves chocolate!
