Even though the squares are moving exactly straight across from left to right, it appears that they are almost arrow shaped as they alternate past the black and white stationary squares!!

Except for the black rectangle in the picture on the right, these two pictures are exactly the same! Why does it seem that the lines are straight in the picture on the right?
